Patient Participation Group
About Us
The Wells City Practice Patient Participation Group (PPG) has been running successfully for a number of years. We are a friendly group and are always pleased to welcome new members to bring fresh ideas and different perspectives to our discussions.
The PPG meets every other month with the GPs and Practice staff to discuss topics of interest and ways in which patients and staff can work together to improve the services offered by the Practice. We meet at the Practice, although our meetings can also be joined remotely by PPG members who need to isolate for health reasons.
We have
- engaged constructively with the Practice on service improvements and developments, including during lockdown;
- supported the Practice on some activities, such as flu clinics;
- conducted surveys of patient satisfaction; and
- acted as a representative group to influence local provision of health and social care.

If you want know more about PPGs and the NHS please visit the National Association of Patient Participation website.
PPGs have not been established to take up individual cases or complaints. Whilst we can discuss the underlying issue that may have led to a complaint, we are not mandated to act as an advocate for individual patients. There are formal procedures for complaints to be considered by the Practice and the NHS. There is information on these procedures on the Suggestions and Complaints page.

Advisory PPG (email group)
Not everyone can attend meetings because of family or work commitments, so we would like to establish an ‘Advisory PPG’ using email communication only to run alongside the formal meetings we hold. This would allow us from time-to-time to contact a wider group of patients to get feedback via email on new initiatives at the Practice and other health issues and developments.
If you are interested in taking part , please complete our PPG Application Form, indicating your interest in the Advisory Group.
Comments and Feedback
The Practice strives to deliver excellent health care to all. It welcomes comments and feedback on your experience of the Practice, its staff and clinicians.
There is a patient comment and feedback box in the surgery with forms alongside. Comments and feedback received will be shared with the PPG for discussion at its meetings.
Comments and feedback received anonymously are treated with as much importance as that submitted by named individuals.
Time is short and patients do not always have the time to submit written feedback during their visit to the Practice. If you want to let the PPG know of your feedback or comments on your experience at the Practice you can email us using the link above. This email address is accessed only by the PPG, so your feedback and comments will be in the strictest confidence.
